This course covers cutting-edge technologies and techniques relative to the principles of excellence in modern architecture as defined by the Congress of International Modern Architects (CIMA.) These principles include social, cultural, and environmental relevance; attention to functional needs; structural integrity; the use of the latest technologies; and the aesthetics of fine art. The course will also cover possible architectural uses of the latest scientific developments (such as nanotechnology and biotechnology) in fields not yet applied to architecture. Eight New York area architects engaged in active practice and/or research will each lead one of the eight sessions for continuing education credits. The content of the lectures is different than the previous series in Fall 2002. This course is sponsored by the Congress of International Modern Architects.
